Yes! Cox Campus’s K-3rd Structured Literacy Program is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association for meeting the knowledge and practice standards for teachers of reading. Our program contains 11 courses (approx. 71 hrs.) that cover the KPS and provide learners with critical knowledge for systematic and explicit implementation of Structured Literacy in the classroom. Do I get CEU’s for these courses?
Yes, you will earn CEUs for each individual course that you take as part of the CCSLC Program. After you have completed these 11 courses you will be eligible to take the comprehensive exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, you will receive your IDA-accredited certificate. (Note: the final certificate does not confer CEUs, but the 11 individual courses do.)
Does this program have a dyslexia endorsement?
Cox Campus’s Structured Literacy Program is officially accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) for meeting the knowledge and practice standards for teachers of reading.
Is Dyslexia training required for GA?
There is no required dyslexia training. The Georgia Early Literacy Act (HB 538) does require that all K-3rd grade teachers complete an approved training program regarding structured literacy, science of reading, and foundational reading skills. The Cox Campus K-3rd Structured Literacy course fulfills this requirement.
Does this program qualify for CERI Dyslexia certificate?
This program does not qualify for the CERI Dyslexia certificate. This program certificate does allow you to sit for the KPEERI exam, administered by the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI). With this program you will be eligible to apply for the Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher (SLCT) Knowledge Certificate through CERI.
